The SERTOMA Club of DTC’s Pony Up for Cowboy Up raises funds for wounded veterans, service members, and first responders suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injuries (TBI). Combat Veterans Cowboy Up is a non-profit organization, located in Castle Rock, Colorado.
The SERTOMA Club of DTC in collaboration with the Loveland Rotary Club, in 1998 funded and then founded in 2000 Casa del Niños Sordos in Tehuacan, Mexico. Between them, and the local Catholic Church who donated the land, they built the first and only school for deaf children in Mexico. The House of the Deaf Children provides basic pediatric care for the hearing impaired and as well as computer training.
The SERTOMA Club of DTC’s Hear-To-Work Program helps adults with hearing issues, who are not eligible for hearing support as adolescents or seniors. These adults are looking for work or are in danger of losing their jobs due to a hearing disability. Individuals are fitted with hearing aids by a certified audiologist. The cost for the examination, fitting, and hearing device is $800, which the client can pay back in installments. Typical costs for such hearing care ranges in the thousands.
The SERTOMA Club of Greater Park Hill supports Bridges of Silence,a faith-based, non-profit organization dedicated to helping hearing and non-hearing at-risk youth to reach their full potential academically, socially, and morally. The learning center provides at-risk youth help with, entrepreneurial and leadership skills development, work experiences; and building self-confidence and self-esteem.The Mission: To share God’s love and STAND (Share, Teach, Assist, Nurture, Develop) with struggling youth.
